I attended my first birth at the Austin Area Birthing Center on Monday evening. It is a beautiful facility and a great option for families who want the environment of a home birth, but the security of on-site medical professionals. I also really liked the midwife on call that night, Joan Smith. She was so friendly and answered questions whenever I asked them.
Baby Jonathan was born at 1:15 a.m. and I left the birth center around 3:30. After a few celebatory emails sent on behalf of the new parents, I got to bed around 4:15 a.m. :) I think I've finally recovered, after a good night's sleep last night.
